BRIDOIRE CASTLE
900 years of history
A castle that made headlines!
Discover the incredible history behind a castle that was completely abandoned for decades and nearly disappeared during the 20th century! The construction of Bridoire began by the end of the 12th century and was completed in the 19th century. The Foucauld family lived in the castle from 1806 to 1938. After 1938 the property was sold and it gradually fell into disrepair starting the 1980s. Thirty years of looting and destruction followed until the castle was expropriated and bought by the Guyot family in 2011.
In 2012 and after major work of reconstruction, Bridoire opened its doors to the public for the first time .
Today Bridoire is saved and inhabited year-round by its owners the Guyot family.
Bridoire is also known as the Castle of Games:
life-sized wooden games have been recreated and are available to the visitors both inside the castle and throughout the outdoor playground.
